I didn’t think I ever wanted to hook off on a nigga more than I did Mielle’s fuck ass daddy. That man tried my existence in front of my whole family, and if it weren’t for my pops, I would’ve gone in his shit. If he would’ve just shut the fuck up, Mielle would’ve gotten her ring tonight, but with the way I was feeling, that shit wasn’t happening anytime soon. I went without Mielle for damned near a year, and the shit I felt then, I refused to feel now. So I’d kept my head down and been all about my girl and my family. Shit, if I had a daughter, I wouldn’t want her with the nigga I used to be, but who I was now was far from that. I gave that girl all of me, and for that nigga to up and say some shit like that was foul.

Mielle was gon’ learn to stop letting her daddy talk shit. She’d been trying to be on some peaceful shit with his ass, but she was gon’ fuck around, and that was gon’ be the end of us.

The door to the house opened and closed, and I heard footsteps followed by Dear’s voice. “Priest, baby… You out here?”

“Over here!” I called out from the side of the porch. Dear rounded the corner with a sympathetic look plastered on her face. “If you came out here to try and talk me into apologizing, it ain’t happening, Dear. Fuck that nigga.”

Dear threw her hands up and surrendered. “Not what I was coming to do at all,” she said as she took a seat. “I don’t think he’s owed an apology, because he was the one in the wrong, not you.”

“Yeah, well, I’m sure that nigga don’t feel the same. Dear, the man came at me on some sucka shit. That’s equivalent to him questioning my manhood and me as a father. Then, to say he bet Antron would’ve given Mielle a ring… I’m a good ass dude to Mielle, and I know all of the fucked-up shit I did in the past, but I was still good to her even then. Mielle ain’t never wanted for shit, Dear. I’ve taken care of her since we started this shit, even if I ain’t have to. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying I ain’t did nothing fucked up, ’cause I have. But my good has definitely outweighed the bad shit.”
